Civil Engineer

An Opportunity exists within the Engineering Department, to fill the position of   
Some of the primary responsibilities of the Civil Engineer will include but are not limited to:
  • The development and execution of the annual work programme for repair, maintenance and refurbishment of all company facilities, structures and ancillaries;
  • Ensuring all LUCELEC facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards to ensure an optimal working environment for Staff;
  • Preparation and submission of budgets for approval;
  • Liaising with LUCELEC’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Security Office to ensure that all construction, maintenance and cleaning activities comply with LUCELEC’s health and safety standards;
  • Preparing, implementing and monitoring preventative maintenance programmes relating to LUCELEC’s structures including but not limited to 66/11kV substations, Vieux Fort T&D Complex, Cul de Sac compound, and Administrative buildings;
  • Preparing contracts for civil works and where appropriate tender documents, monitoring the performance of contractors and ensuring the satisfactory completion of all work performed by contractors;
  • Liaising as and when necessary with external consultants, service providers and other third parties to facilitate execution of the Building Services Department’s work programme.
  • Performance planning, monitoring and assessments of direct reports, identifying training and development needs and working towards addressing identified needs.
 The ideal candidate must possess:
  •  A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 3- 5 years of experience in a civil engineering or facilities management
  • 3-5 years management experience  

It would be an asset if you also have:
  • Knowledge of Indoor Air Quality improvement & remedial works
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency initiatives for buildings
  • Understanding of building air conditioning systems
  • Strong leadership and problem solving abilities
  • Staff Coaching and Development skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Budget preparation and monitoring experience
  • Facilities management experience
