VACANCY NOTICE
Opportunities exist within the Transmission & Distribution Department Cul de Sac and Cantonement to fill the position of Lineman.
Some of the primary responsibilities of the Lineman at various times in his/her career depending on the Section of the T&D Department that he/she is attached to will include but are not limited to:
- To perform overhead/underground line work associated with the lineman trade on the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) system either from a bucket truck or from poles.
- To install and interpret results of metering devices for domestic and commercial energy consumption.
- To inspect the distribution system and prepare Work Orders for maintenance work.
- To investigate customer complaints or requests in relation to LUCELEC’s T&D infrastructure and/or the quality of their supply.
- To use lineman tools and other equipment including a bucket truck and its accessories.
- To use test instruments and install monitoring equipment and interpret the results.
- To produce reports having undertaken field investigations and reviews of systems. occurrence logs.
- To update electronic databases and make use of various software applications.
- Any other related duties.
The ideal candidate must possess:
- A Certificate/Diploma in Electrical Installation.
- Passes in 5 CXC subjects including Mathematics and English (General Proficiency)
- Up to three (3) years’ experience in line work or a related field.
- General knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the lineman trade.
- Good understanding and thorough knowledge of all safety rules of the lineman trade.
- The ability to work at heights and willingness to climb poles.
- Effective communication, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- A valid Driver’s License.
